The amazing sport fishing adventure in Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park is a unique magical park located in the western part of Uganda. This park is the country smallest Savannah Park covering an area 370 square kilometers with a very rich diversity hence making it a habitat to many wildlife species and a good number of bird species. It is home to unique wildlife including the Burchell zebras, impalas and elands. Others include, Buffalo, Oribi, Defassa Waterbuck, Leopard, Hippo, Hyena, Topi and Reedbuck.
Sport fishing safaris in Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo national park has got a total of five lakes and Lake Mburo is the largest of them all though there are more lakes just outside the park area to make it thirteen in total, the lakes flora and fauna is beautiful with wildlife at its shores.
Sport fishing in Lake Mburo National Park is one of the famous park activities and it is conducted around the restricted area; Mazinga. Tourists interested in sport fishing on their short Uganda safaris must obtain permits that allows them to do this activity.
Tourists who would like to do sport fishing can carry their own fishing gears and an experienced fishing guide is a must during the activity. The guide will help you to avoid the bad areas and also in the fishing process. Lake Mburo has got six species of fish including famous tilapia fish, lung fish, mud fish, Haplochromes among others. After fishing, tourists can take the fish caught in their respective lodges and have the fish cooked for dinner. Some lodges and companies also organize fishing gear for their clients in case they don’t want to carry their own.
Tourists can also engage in other Uganda safari activities in the park like conducting a launch boat cruise along Lake Mburo. This adventurous boat cruise lasts for about one and half hours giving you chance to get close to the wildlife like hippopotamus and crocodiles alongside water birds. The boat rides depart at 8:00am, 10:00 am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm and at 5:30pm.
The other exiting safari activity in Lake Mburo is horse riding and tourists can engage in horse riding for as many hours as they want, they can also take a horse ride safari late evening and have dinner at the bush with horses besides.
For bird enthuasts, Lake Mburo National Park is home to over 370 species of birds, the best places for bird watching are in Rubanga forest, Miriti and Warukiri swamps and areas around the salt lick some of the bird species found are yellow breasted apalis, African fin foot, white headed barbet, red faced barbet, bare faced go away bird and many others.
